As in past, event dedicated to late Fire Deputy Chief Steve Porciello

UPDATED April 20: The fifth annual "Pulling for Hope" event was at St. Camillus Parish, 1185 Concord Turnpike, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This benefit for Relay For Life of Greater Arlington, itself a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society, involves teams made up of police officers, firefighters, military veterans and others competing against each other to see which can pull a firetruck 50 feet the fastest. Other family-friendly activities also occurred at the site, a news release said. Attendance was free.

This year, three rounds of truck pulls were planned. In between will be live music, food, lawn games and other activities. The first team to cross the finish line wins bragging rights and a trophy.

People could form a team or can support all teams by donating to Pulling for Hope Arlington. The registration fee for a team is $25.

This year's event was in honor and remembrance of Arlington Firefighters' Deputy Chief Steve Porciello, the release said. For more information, go here >>
